Imago Classical Academy

Academics

An exegetical approach to classical education.

Our Philosophy

Exegesis: the art of paying close attention to a text in order to draw out of it the intent of its author.

That posture shapes everything we do. We teach our students to read Scripture this way, and then to read all of life this way. Drawing on Charlotte Mason's practice of narration and the integration of every subject, we form students who pay attention, think clearly, and love what is good, true, and beautiful.

What We Study
The Curriculum

Bible

We place a high priority on biblical literacy. Catechesis is not an afterthought; it saturates every part of the curriculum and becomes the lens through which students understand all of life.

Latin

Second only to Scripture itself, Latin forms the blazing center of a classical education. It builds a robust vocabulary, trains clear thinking, and teaches English grammar from the inside out, beginning with grammar-translation and growing toward fluent reading.

The Arts

In a true classical education, the arts are not electives. Every student learns to play a musical instrument and works with the fundamentals of the visual arts.

Movement

Humans are living creatures, made from dirt and made alive with God's breath. We develop skillful, joyful movement that serves the body and spirit for a lifetime.

Arithmetic & Mathematics

Mastery is the name of the game. Students commit math facts to memory and master basic computation in the lower school. Abstract and algebraic reasoning begin after sixth grade.

Phonics

The prime objective of an education is to produce readers. Our curriculum consistently raises up above-grade-level readers who actually enjoy reading.

Literature

As an Imago family, you will never see or lay hands on an anthology. Students read whole books from the Western canon and discuss vocabulary, character, plot, and theme together.

Composition

Learning to write well, from holding a pencil to spelling accurately to forming sentences artfully, is a lifelong journey. Students learn the classical model alongside spelling and penmanship, imitating the great writers of the tradition.

Science

Science is the bridge between the classroom and God's creation. Instruction awakens wonder while building mastery of basic scientific skills and a deeper understanding of the world.

Logic & Rhetoric

In a chaotic world, your student needs clarity. We train students to spot logical fallacies in conversation and to articulate hard-won wisdom skillfully and persuasively.

Let us join you in forming students marked by Wisdom, Courage, and Delight.
